Try Scuba Diving in Lanzarote: Your First Great Underwater Adventure

Taking your very first breath underwater is an unforgettable moment. A scuba diving baptism, also known as Try Scuba Diving, is the perfect way to discover the beauty of the ocean without needing any previous experience. At Native Diving Lanzarote, we have been guiding people of all ages through their first dive for over 25 years — always with safety, enjoyment and a sense of adventure at the heart of it.

What is a scuba baptism?

It is a beginner-friendly experience in calm, shallow waters, supervised directly by a qualified instructor. The aim is not to become a certified diver (although it can be your first step in that direction), but rather to enjoy your first underwater breaths and encounter marine life in its natural environment.

Why Lanzarote is the ideal place?

  • Crystal-clear waters: Visibility often exceeds 20 metres, allowing you to fully appreciate the underwater scenery.
  • Unique volcanic seabed: White sands meet lava formations and colourful marine gardens.
  • Rich biodiversity: Expect to see colourful fish, cuttlefish, starfish, seahorses and even rays in one dive.
  • Year-round diving: Thanks to Lanzarote’s mild climate, diving is possible in every season.

Tips for your first dive

  1. Stay calm and breathe: Your instructor will guide you step by step.
  2. No need to be a strong swimmer: Comfort in the water and enthusiasm are enough.
  3. Listen to the briefing: You will learn how to use the equipment and communicate underwater.
  4. Stay hydrated and rested: Feeling fresh will help you enjoy the dive more.
  5. Smile for the camera: Underwater photos capture the excitement of the moment.

How the experience unfolds

  1. Welcome and equipment fitting: You’ll be given a wetsuit, mask, fins, buoyancy vest and regulator.
  2. Short theory session: Basic skills to move and breathe underwater.
  3. Shallow water practice: First exercises alongside your instructor.
  4. Guided dive: Time to descend and admire the marine life, always supervised.
  5. Unforgettable memories
