You learn to walk by walking and you learn to swim by swimming, but what about diving? Scuba diving is an enormously rewarding activity that, of course, requires a certain technique and preparation. A diving baptism in Lanzarote is just what you need to get started! Don’t you know what it is?
No problem, we will tell you clearly and quickly in this post: what it consists of, what its essential characteristics are and why it is a good idea for you to come visit us in Lanzarote to live your first experience. diving.
What is a diving baptism?
A person’s first experience in scuba diving, that is, their first dive, is called a diving baptism (or diving baptism, which is the same thing). Within the framework of the main diving certification organizations, it receives other more “commercial” names, such as Try Scuba Diving in SSI or Discover Scuba Diving in PADI.
In any case, this first contact with diving does not strictly imply taking a course or certified training; It is something much lighter that basically consists of:
- A theoretical training of about 15 minutes,
- A familiarization with diving equipment, and
- A immersion of between 30 and 45 minutes in the company of your instructor.
If in terms of time and effort it is something, as we say, much lighter than a certification course, many of the people who regularly visit our center say that the diving baptism in Lanzarote has been one of the experiences that has marked them the most and that have been key in their motivation to set out to discover the bottom of the sea.
Why try diving?
Is what we just told you not enough for you? Although it is not mandatory to do a baptism before taking your first certification course as a diver, for the vast majority of people who try there is no turning back: once you dare to take a look at the underwater world, you always want more.
But there are more reasons, the first and most obvious, that of trying before jumping headlong into taking a course. It is undoubtedly the best way to try, even if it is very quickly and easily, the sensations that scuba diving offers. From there it’s easier to decide if this wetsuit, fins, mask and bottles thing is for you!Furthermore, as occurs with other of the activities that we propose in Native Diving (such as Sea Trek), we talk about easily accessible recreational activities, which can be done by almost anyone, with a sporting component but also contact with nature in its purest form and, we must not forget, personal discovery.
